About us

Sabor y arte is a chef-led, reservation-only private dinner experience showcasing the depth, richness, and history of traditional Mexican cuisine. Each dinner is an immersive cultural journey, hosted either in-home, in curated pop-up locations, or select private venues across San Diego. Guests enjoy multi-course meals rooted in regional dishes—from Oaxaca, Puebla, Jalisco, Veracruz, and beyond—crafted with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and ancestral techniques.

The Chef

Jorge Magaña is a San Diego–based chef with roots in traditional Mexican cooking and hands-on experience in high-volume, fine-dining kitchens. With over five years of culinary experience—from sushi bars to luxury hotel kitchens—Jorge blends professional training with cultural heritage. He completed a culinary internship in Oaxaca, Mexico, where he mastered time-honored techniques like mole preparation, nixtamalization, and masa-based dishes. Jorge is also a bilingual chef, a ServSafe-certified kitchen manager, and a 2023 Baja Culinary Fest award-winner (2nd place, Professional Category).
